The most common lightsaber colors in Star Wars are blue, red, and green, but these weapons actually have many more colors, eight to be exact, including the orange lightsaber in the game "Jedi: Fallen Order". Like the director of the Star Wars series George Lucas portrayed: as with most objects in distant galaxies, the different colors of lightsabers are given deep meaning. While the color of a lightsaber is optional, the Star Wars series has proven time and time again that the color of a lightsaber usually reflects the moral stance of its wielder.

Jedi, Sith, and other users of the force have used lightsabers for offense and defense. The weapon is actually composed of plasma, with a "Kyber crystal" as the core material, which is fired from the hilt and can be turned off at will. The "Khyber Crystal" gives the lightsaber its different colors - a rare, power-regulating crystal that grows in nature and can be found on many planets. "Khyber crystals are originally colorless, but once harvested by the Jedi, they take on a different color.

Thus, Kyber crystals can give different colors to the lightsaber, but colors like the unique deep red color held by the Sith are obtained through other different methods. So far, Star Wars has made eight lightsaber colors part of this classic series, each with a different meaning and purpose. The following is what each lightsaber color in Star Wars represents.

1.Blue Lightsaber

The blue lightsaber, with which they are spiritually opposed, is the red lightsaber, first seen in Star Wars: A New Hope, a color associated with the Jedi. While it is not the only color used by ancient knights, it is certainly the most common color, as evidenced by a large number of blue lightsabers in the prequel trilogy. The blue lightsaber is said to represent justice and bravery, mainly because of its association with the Jedi's position and the strong "spiritual alliance" the user has with the crystal. This color is used by characters such as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, Luke Skywalker, and Terra Sinnob, especially Terra Sinnob, who has a unique light blue sword. In the Star Wars universe, this color is designated as the color of the Jedi Guardians and appears more often in the Star Wars prequel trilogy.

 2. Green Lightsaber

The green lightsaber is the second most common color used by Jedi, a color closely associated with harmony, helpfulness, cooperation, spirituality, and demonstratable goodwill. By convention, the green lightsaber was usually used by wiser, more senior Jedi, such as Yoda, Qui-Gon Jinn, and later Luke Skywalker after completing his Jedi training. Also of note is that Ahsoka Tano also uses a light green lightsaber, which in the Expanded Universe represents the Jedi Consul.

3. White Lightsaber

The white lightsaber is primarily used by Ahsoka Tano, a testament to her mastery of the Force. Ahsoka removed these special Kyber crystals from the lightsaber of Roku, an Inquisitor she killed while hiding after the collapse of the Jedi Order during the Imperial occupation of Rada. These swords originally emitted red blades, but Ahsoka purified them with the Force and returned them to white, which ultimately represented her status as a separate individual, as she was no longer affiliated with the Jedi or associated with the Dark Side. These new white crystals were used by her in two lightsabers, one of which was a shrapnel sword.

4. Purple Lightsaber

This is a very rare color used by Jedi as well, and the purple lightsaber is seen in the Star Wars universe as synonymous with Jedi Master Mace Windu. In fact, this purple lightsaber was then playing Seamus Windu's Muir Jackson directly to Lucas to choose to use a purple lightsaber, and Lucas's favorite color is also purple. Therefore, this rare lightsaber in the universe of "Star Wars" is not given actual meaning, the purple lightsaber is just an interesting behind-the-scenes story. But in the universe of Star Wars, purple is a combination of red and blue, which then means that it symbolizes moral ambiguity and uncertainty. Thus, the purple lightsaber represents its user's affinity for both the light and dark sides of the Force. Windu's purple lightsaber first appeared in Star Wars 2: Attack of the Clones, and in the confrontation between Windu and Darth Sidious in Star Wars 3: Revenge of the Sith, the lightsaber fell out of the window and went to an unknown destination along with the character.

5. Yellow Lightsaber

This color is a special color used by the Jedi Temple guards, who wield double-edged purple lightsaber lances. Little is known about this particular lightsaber color, so it is unclear whether the color was intentionally created to distinguish the identity of the guards or whether the Khyber crystal selected the Temple guards by turning yellow, but characters like Asajjeventris and Ahsoka from the planet Dathomir have also used lightsabers of this color at some point. In the Expanded Universe, Jedi Sentinels use yellow lightsabers, which turned yellow when the ancient Jedi Jaden Cole purified the red lightsaber crystal, which may indicate that yellow lightsaber users have a devotional nature.

6. Red lightsaber

The red lightsaber unquestionably symbolizes the Sith. Unlike the Jedi, who have some sort of shared connection with the Khyber Crystal, so that the Jedi can easily find it, the Sith cannot establish this invisible connection, and they cannot find it themselves, so they have to steal the Jedi's Khyber Crystal "or use other methods to create their lightsabers. This process, known as "bleeding", involves injecting all their hatred, fear and other negative emotions into the crystal, causing it to "bleed" and turn red. In the Star Wars Expanded Universe, the Sith were also unable to make their lightsabers out of Kyber crystals, so they created synthetic Kyber, which turned out to be red. This color was mainly used by the Sith, as we see with Darth Vader, Count Dooku, Darth Maul, and his double-bladed lightsaber, Darth Sidious, and Kylo Ren, all of whom hold red lightsabers.

7. Orange Lightsaber

The newest member of the Star Wars canon is the orange lightsaber, which is to come from the game "Jedi: Fallen Order". This color came about as a game, so it doesn't have any backstory beyond its inherent uniqueness and market value. In the Star Wars Expanded Universe, the Jedi of the Sith and more recently the Dark Side sometimes use orange lightsabers, but nothing in particular has yet manifested itself in the new classic setting.

 8. Black Lightsaber

The black lightsaber (or dark sword) is a unique blade created by the first Mandalorian, Tal Vizsla. The Dark Lightsaber has a unique blade that is shorter than a normal lightsaber and shaped like a traditional sword. After Vizsla's death, the Dark Sword was kept in the Jedi Temple and later stolen by a member of the Vizsla family. This weapon became a symbol of Mandalorian leadership, and according to Mandalorian custom, the only way to obtain it was to defeat the previous owner in battle.
